I’m planning on building a boat over the next 18 months or so. This will be where I keep track of the progress, costs, and frustrations, and where I’ll post photos of the process. The boat I’ve finally decided on is the Godzilla 25, from Sam Devlin. I’ve bought the plans and am in the process of getting my yard ready to start the work. I hope to have it in the water by fourth of July, 2008.
Building a boat in rainy Seattle imposes some challenges. I’m going to order a 13′ X 26′ wedding canopy from Ebay to build it in. I’m going to raise the canopy so it’s high enough for building the pilothouse after the hull is turned upright. I plan on adding about 5 feet in width by framing in the back side and pulling the fabric side panel over the extension. This should give me enough room to work in because the boat itself will take up most of the tent interior. I also have a shed and garage to work in.
